- "Read In/Stuffy Day" --On Friday, March 24th, our classrooms will have a designated time for the students to just read any text they would like a healthy chunk of time. They are also allowed to bring in a stuffed animal for the day. (Must be able to fit on top of desk along with a text/book.)
Oldie, but goodies .....
- Please return permission slips for the Film Festival to your 5th grader's teacher
5th Grade Math this week....
- March Number Corner--This month we will continue to look at area, but by multiplying with decimals instead of fractions. We will also do some data collection and line plots. Finally we will learn a form of bingo involving division with decimals.
- This week we will add onto our graphing/coordinate grid skills by looking a patterns and sequences with our ordered pairs.
- Next week we will work on how to classify triangles and quadrilaterals.
Literacy this week....
- Module 3--Athletes Leaders of Social Change
- While using our mentor text, we continue to do close reading, discuss the gist of our text, find main ideas and key details.
- We are focusing on writing informational summaries from text........LOTS OF SUMMARIES :)
Science this week....
- Our third science unit-Earth Systems.
- Unit Question: What can determine how much water is available for human use?
- Chapter Four: What is there more water vapor high up over West Ferris than East Ferris?
- Next week Chapter Five: How can East Ferris turn wastewater into clean freshwater?
SELS this week...
- Being an Ally in situations involving ability
- Randall's behavior incentive goal for March is Board Game Day
- We are focusing on forgiveness and apologizing
- March's Goal for the whole school: 1000 Paws
